It’s been incredibly wet and cold in Perth over the last two weeks.
We’ve spent most of our time inside watching the wild weather.
We even had a small amount of hail – although nothing like that of the last big storm.
We took a chance during one of the gaps in the rain to get out and check the garden.
The salad seedlings (rocket and cos lettuce) seem to be coming along nicely
The broccolini has finally flowered properly, we got three stalks harvested and there will be another three in a couple of weeks. These plants have been growing for 6 months and Paddy and I had started to think that they were never going to bloom.
We found quite a few cherry tomatoes that had been literally blown off the vine. On closer inspection you can see most of these tomatoes are split. This usually occurs with rapid temperature changes exactly like those we have been experiencing in Perth.
The rest of the garden is still very damp and Paddy thinks the poor soil drainage may be contributing to the decline of some plants…
…such as these sick looking garlic sprouts.
Found a dry spot…
..while you make the repairs.
