Paddy and I have been playing a kind of dutch auction with Mother Nature.

We planted a variety of cucumbers and after some really colorful flowers we could see three juicy cucumbers growing on the vines.

The thing is that if we could see them, then so could everything else in the neighborhood.

Our previous experiences with tomato-eating mice showed that while we were both content to wait for the cucumbers to develop further – it would only be a matter of time before one of the ‘contestants’ got hungry and made a grab for the cucumbers.

    Wish I had cukes that were SO bright green and hetlhay mine tried, and one is still bravely trying, but mostly, they’ve given up for the year already. Are yours that stunning again this year???
